Visa and Residence Permit


International Student Residence Permit Process
In accordance with the decision of YÖK dated 29.11.2023, from now on, all international students are required to submit their files within 5 days to the International Student Office (Rectorate building, Floor:  -1) after preparing their files.
IMPORTANT NOTE: After obtaining the application form from the address (e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr), you must submit it to the International Student Office along with all other documents within 5 days.
According to the appointment given by the provincialmigration administration, files will be submitted to the Migration Administration each week on Friday. Your file must be submitted in person without any missing documents to the International Student Office.
 
You Can Follow the Steps Below for the International Student Residence Process:
1. Visit the address e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr to create your application.

c) If you have a student or short-term residence permit and it is not valid, you must apply for the first time,
d) If you have a short-term residence permit and it is still valid, you must apply for a transition application,
Make sure your information is written correctly as in your passport. 
2. After receiving the application form from the relevant address, you must go in person to one of the following provincial migration administration centers with your passport in the same day to give fingerprints. Files of students without fingerprint numbers on the application form will not be accepted under any circumstances.

1. Online Application (e-Residence)
You must complete your application at:

Types of Applications
a) If you currently have a student residence permit and it is still valid (Extension Application):

c) If you had a student or short-term residence permit but it has expired:
You must apply as a first application and obtain an appointment.
d) If you currently have a short-term residence permit and it is still valid:
You must apply as a transition application.
⚠️ Important: Make sure that all information is entered exactly as written in your passport and is complete.

2. Fingerprint Procedure
After completing the online application, you must go on the same day with your passport to one of the Immigration Office centers listed below to give your fingerprints.
📌 Applications without a fingerprint number will NOT be accepted.

3. Required Documents for the Application File
 
1. Health Insurance for Foreigners
  • Private Health Insurance, or
  • SGK (Social Security Institution):
    After completing your registration, you must apply in person within 90 days with your foreign ID number at the Avcılar SGK Office.
 
2. Residence Permit Application Form
 
3. Two (2) Biometric Photos
  • Must comply with ICAO standards
  • Size: 50 mm x 60 mm
  • White background, no patterns
 
4. Passport and Entry Information
  • Copy of the passport information page
  • Copy of the visa page (if applicable)
  • Copy of the latest entry stamp to Türkiye
  • 📌 You must bring the original passport with you.
 
5. Residence Permit Card Copy (If Available)
  • Copy of the front and back of your current residence permit card
  • Original card
 
6. Student Certificate
  • Stamped and signed certificate obtained in person from the Student Affairs Office or faculty secretary, or
  • QR-coded student certificate obtained via e-Devlet or OBİS
📌 Both types of documents are accepted by the Immigration Office.
 
 
7. Address (Residence) Document
a) If you stay in a dormitory:
  • Dormitory letter stamped and signed
  • If the document has a barcode, a signature circular is not required
b) If you stay in an apartment or rented house:
  • Notarized rental contract (must include the phrase “Signed before a Notary Public”)
c) If you stay in a hotel or similar accommodation:
  • Payment document covering the duration of stay
  • Official letter from the accommodation
d) If you stay with family members or relatives:
  • Notarized undertaking (taahhütname)
  • If the host is a foreigner: residence document and utility bill
  • If the host is a Turkish citizen: residence document and utility bill; if married, the spouse must also provide an undertaking
e) If you have a residence document obtained via e-Devlet:
  • None of the above documents are required
f) If you stay in your own property:
  • Copy of the title deed (tapu)
  • Address number plate document (obtained from the municipality)
 
8. Residence Permit Card Fee – 810 TL

9. UETS (National Electronic Notification System)
If you have previously held any type of residence permit in Türkiye (touristic, student, or work), you must submit your UETS code.
  • You can obtain the UETS code via e-Devlet, or
  • From PTT branches.
